Okay, I admit it...the Pinterest bug has bitten me. As a designer and craft-loving person, it's only natural, though! Pinterest, a bulletin board of sorts for online images, is an awesome place to inspire and be inspired for the next artistic adventure.
Anyway, the other day, I was super excited to finish a t-shirt dress to vest makeover inspired from this pin on Pinterest. I thought y'all would like to see it, so below are several pictures and a short tutorial on how I created it!

The final project...front view.

The final project...back view.

A before picture.

First, cut down the center of the dress' front. Then, open up the dress and cut out the vest shape (the dotted lines on figure 2 above will give you an idea of where I made my cut lines. After that, you'll have the vest shape (see figure 3). I then took the large scrap of extra fabric, cut strips out of it and pulled each strip to make long, string-like ropes (see figure 4). By folding the stretched fabric ropes in two lengthwise, I was then able to use the ropes to bind all the raw fabric edges of the vest. (I knotted the ropes at the point of each front panel for a cute touch. Finally, I took another couple of fabric scraps (ones that already had binding on a long edge), did a quick ruffle stitch on them and added the ruffles to the vest's front. I also sewed two of the ropes in the front so I can tie the vest closed.
I hope you are inspired and encouraged to try your own Pinterest makeovers...this one was so much fun to do!! I also had an awesome time making t-shirt rings and scarves with a friend. Here's a link to the t-shirt ring and t-shirt scarf pins we were inspired by!

Hi Tiffany! You may not remember me but I have known your folks for a very long time. Your mom invited me to the Crafternoon on Mar. 10 and I really would like to come! It led me to rabbit trail and I found your website and blog. How fun! What a talented young lady you are! As a mom, it is so wonderful for me to remember our friends children when they were little and then see how God has helped them bloom into these beautiful creative young adults that glorify Him! Keep you the good work! I hope to see you on March 10th!
Nancy
Thanks so much for your encouragement…I look forward to seeing you at our Crafternoon as well!!
