January Adventure

“To my mind, the greatest reward and luxury of travel is to be able to experience everyday things as if for the first time, to be in a position in which almost nothing is so familiar it is taken for granted.”
— Bill Bryson

What a wonderful whirlwind these past few weeks have been! How so, you ask? Well, first of all, I had the opportunity to attend Passion 2012 in Atlanta, where I enjoyed spending time with friends, learning from the speakers and especially was moved by the experience of worshiping Jesus with 45,000 other people. How incredible that was! From a design perspective, I also loved the beautifully done brochures, signage and other design-y details at the conference.

After that, I spent time with family in the Atlanta/Savannah/Charleston area, where I got to practice with our new SLR camera!

Left: We enjoyed soaking up the quaint Charleston experience. Right: A really neat sign in Savannah from a store all about honey.

A highlight from the trip was attending the AmericasMart conference in Atlanta. The place was absolutely monstrous...and had sooo many shops!

Left: While at the AmericasMart conference, we got to learn photo styling tips from Emily Henderson of HGTV. Right: Jeff Mauro of Food Network was also at the conference. His sandwiches are so yummy!!

Left: Then, I also got the chance to go to Chicago. We had always wanted to take a train trip, so this was the perfect opportunity to ride via Amtrak to Chicago. It was quite the experience! Right: Chicago is such a cool place to learn about cutting-edge trends.

One of our favorite stores on the famous Magnificent Mile was the AllSaints Spitalfields store, which had incredible window displays that featured probably hundreds of vintage sewing machines.

Inside the AllSaints Spitalfields store was just as amazing, with industrial-type machinery used as display tables and exposed brick walls. (More info at http://www.us.allsaints.com/)
